1. Lazarus Island (Southern Islands)

2. Esplanade Roof Terrace

An underrated local gem, the Esplanade Roof Terrace promises you beautiful views of the city skyline for your romantic picnic date. Visit at night for a spectacular view to watch the city come alive with lights!

How to get there: Take the escalator or lift to the second level of Esplanade. From there, follow the signs to go up to the roof terrace.

3. Hindhede Nature Park

A secluded space located next to Bukit Timah Nature Reserve, be one with nature and have a relaxing picnic with your partner. If you’re planning to walk around, be sure to visit the now flooded Hindhede Quarry, which can be admired from the lookout point at the far end of the park’s trail.

How to get there: 

By MRT: Take the Downtown line to Cashew MRT and walk 2 minutes. 

By bus: Take bus service 67, 173, 174, 184 or 852.

4. Canterbury Road

A famous pre-wedding photoshoot location, Canterbury Road is also fun for exploring, with a swing hidden in its surrounding trees. Also known for its golden hour, head there around 6pm and lay your mat anywhere for a romantic sunset picnic.

5. Tiong Bahru Park

At Telok Blangah Hill Park, there are a few spots for you to have sheltered picnics. Near the carpark, there are sheltered areas with tables for you to feast on your snacks. For a more Instagram-worthy view, take the stairs at Terrace Garden to the hilltop, where you can find gazebos and benches.

By MRT: Take the Circle Line to Telok Blangah MRT and walk 13 minutes.

By bus: Take bus service 120 or 124 and walk 3 minutes.

7. The Star Vista’s Star Terrace

Known for its theatre, The Star Vista’s Star Terrace makes a comfortable and clean picnic spot as it is lined with wooden planks, perfect for laying out a picnic mat. Located on the third floor, enjoy the serenity and scenic view as you eat and catch up with your friends!

By MRT: Take the East West or Circle Line to Buona Vista MRT.

8. VivoCity Sky Park

You probably know VivoCIty’s Sky Park for its wading pool, which is currently temporarily closed. However, you can still hang out at the amphitheater and have a picnic away from the heat! Grab some friends and a picnic basket, and head to the third floor of VivoCity!

9. Palawan Beach

Build sandcastles and unwind with a picnic at Sentosa’s Palawan Beach. The waters here are calmer than at their two other beaches, which is perfect for kids to splash around and have fun. Head up to the viewing tower for a spectacular view of Sentosa in all its glory!

How to get there: From Harbourfront MRT, take the Sentosa Express train to Beach Station. From there, take the beach shuttle to Palawan beach or walk there.

10. Fort Canning Park

Besides being an iconic hilltop landmark having seen Singapore’s historical milestones, Fort Canning Park is also a hot picnic spot for friends and families to hang out. After eating, fly a kite with your kids on the big grass patch or let them have a play at the Jubilee Park Playground!

By MRT: Take North South, North East or Circle Line to Dhoby Ghaut MRT and walk 7 minutes.

By Bus: Take bus service 64, 123, 139 or 143 and walk 2 minutes.

11. Sembawang Park

Instead of heading to the same old East Coast Park, try Sembawang Park for a change! On top of enjoying a sea breeze during your beach picnic, you and your kids can play at the unique maritime-themed battleship playground!

How to get there: Take the North-East Line to Sembawang MRT. From there, take bus service 882.

12. Labrador Park

Another East Coast Park alternative, Labrador Park features grassy vistas for you and your family to lay out picnic mats. On top of that, your kids can have fun exploring 2 playgrounds, one with a merry-go-round and swings!

How to get there: Take the Circle Line to Labrador MRT and walk 15 minutes.


Car Picnic Spots

13. People’s Park Complex Rooftop

The spacious rooftop of People’s Park complex is suitable for a chill car picnic. Easily accessible for the public, you can take cute #OOTD photos here with the yellow resident homes in the background! Just drive all the way up to Level 6 and you’ll be there.

Parking fees: 

Monday – Saturday:  

$3.21 for the first hr, $1.71 for next subsequent 30min from 6am to 7pm 

$4.70/entry from 7pm to 6am the following day 

Sunday and Public Holidays:

$3.75 for the 1st 2hrs, $1.61 for next subsequent hr from 6am to 6am the following day

14. Stadium Walk Carpark

With big parking lots for sell-out concerts at the Singapore Indoor Stadium nearby, these lots remain fairly empty on non-concert days. Park at Stadium Walk for a vibey outdoor car picnic with your friends! 

Parking fees: 

Non-event days: $0.54 / 30min daily. 

Event days: Pre-Sold Parking $10.70 / entry from 7am to 7am the following day.

15. International Plaza Rooftop

As seen on TikTok, International Plaza Rooftop is a lesser-known car picnic spot you might want to gatekeep! However, do note that International Plaza is an office cum residential complex, so try to keep your volume to a minimum. Fret not, you and your friends can still have fun jamming to your favourite songs in the car!

Parking fees:

Monday – Friday:

$2.20/30 minutes from 7am to 5pm

$3.00/entry from 5pm to 7am the following day

Saturday:

$2.20/30 minutes from 7am to 3pm

$3.00/entry after 3pm to 7am the following day

Sunday and Public Holidays:

$3.00/entry from 7am to 7am the following day
